"My philosophy about skin care is to make it as simple as brushing your teeth and as beautifying as giving water to a flower to blossom. The Dorit Baxter skin care collection for homecare was created while working face to face with clients who had various skin concerns."
Q1. Most Skin Care Salons have a variety of facials, how do I know which is the best facial for me?
A1. Just schedule an appointment for the basic facial and ask your facialist (skin specialist) to analyze your skin and recommend the perfect facial. Remember every season the texture of the skin changes (due to the climate change) and you might need a different type of skin treatment.
Q2. I have an acne condition and I often hear about accutane. How would I know if I am a good candidate for it?
A2. Accutane is based on vitamin A derivatives. It is crucial that you do a lot of reading up on it and know all the side effects. Accutane is a quick fix for acne but it is not a permanent solution. Acne is a condition developed from hormonal imbalance and it is inflammation of the oil glands. Accutane can cause severe, life-threatening birth defects. Never use Accutane if you are pregnant. You need to know about nutrition and emotional relaxation in addition to choosing the perfect skin care regimen. See our acne skin care products
Q3. What causes dark spots?
A3. Dark spots usually occurs in skin that contains large amount of melanin. The pigmentation turns darker especially when the skin is exposed to sun and sometimes during pregnancy. Dark spots (called Age Spots) can also be caused by hormonal change during menopause and taking birth control pills. To reverse the damage of pigmentation discoloration the following products are recommended: Skin Brightening Gel and Peel Cream.
Q4. I have puffy eyes and I always look tired and drained, any new development in skin care for helping this particular skin condition?
A4. Puffy eyes are hereditary, they get inflamed and look worse for the following reasons: fluid retention from salt and sodium intake, allergies, alcohol intake. Collagen facial is a great relaxer for the puffiness, followed up with the eye gel for every day use. Also, when applying eye gel use the tips of ring finger and middle finger to gently press from inward to outward (lymphatic drainage system around the eyes).
Q5. What causes deep lines between the eyebrows? And how can I improve these lines?
A5. It is caused by overusing a certain muscle (like frowning). Home remedy: Massage upwards between eyebrows preferable while laying on a pillow. About 30 strokes. Professional remedy includes botox or collagen injections but these are temporary solutions and quite expensive. You can also try the light therapy treatment which increases the collagen production and improve muscle strength. The Soy Serum is recommended to help diminish appearance of lines.
Q6. Saggy skin - why? how can it be reversed?
A6. Sagginess of the skin is due to loss of elasticity and muscle tone, usually comes with age. Some have better muscle tone than others. Having a good nutrition rich in protein like meat, poultry, fish, eggs and nuts help to build up strong muscle tone. Best results for lifting the sagging skin is plastic surgery. If you wish to try natural lifting try facial exercise and we recommend the collagen facial as often as once a month and use the collagen moisturizer to maintain youthful look.
Q7. What exactly is microdermabrasion and how would I know if its for my skin type?
A7. Microdermabrasion is a peeling method using crystals (that feel like abrasive sand) in conjunction with a special machine which removes the layers of skin promising to reduce pore size and minimizing scars. Dorit Baxter Spa does not believe in this method although we received training with the best medical machine suppliers, because the process is very expensive and not cost effective. Instead, we recommend the Echo2 Oxygen facial which includes two steps exfoliation to refine skin texture and conclude with vitamins A, E, C and mineral complex. It is recommended for all skin types with the result of renewed skin.
Q8. Do you believe in natural/organic products for skin care?
A8. We do love the products of nature and use them with a variety of facials and body treatments. We especially use them for body treatments. Here are a few of our treatments that include natural products: Organic Facial, Aromatherapy Massage, Herbal Body Wrap, Jojoba Night Cream, Azulene Moisturizer.
Q9. What is sensitive skin and how do I determine if my skin type is sensitive?
A9. Sensitive skin is venerable to climate change. It gets raw and dry in the winter and bumpy and broken out in the summer. The skin is typically thin with reddish complexion. We recommend the dermalift facial and we have a great home regime products to beautify sensitive skin.
Q10. I often have breakouts on my back, is medication the only way to help?
A10. I recommend the facial technique on the back. If you have an opportunity after the back facial to get some sun which will help to heal the blemishes faster and at the same time you will be exposed to vitamin D. (no more than half an hour at a time) Follow up home care: Apply Soap II on a wet loofah (with a handle) and use during shower. This will help to clean the pores and eliminate breakouts.
Q11. Do Facials help remove Black heads and White heads?
A11. When making an appointment with a professional facial salon, do mention to the receptionist your purpose for getting a facial. So they can assign to you a skin care specialist who is an expert on removing black heads and white heads. Sports Facial and Oily Skin Kit are recommended.
